Mother's Day Gift Guide

Mother's Day is quickly approaching {can you believe May starts next Tuesday??} and so I figured it was time to put together a little gift guide for all the moms in your life {or leave this open for a certain someone to see!}.

Pink Cloud Moisturizer: As we get older, I find that investing in higher quality face care is really worth it! I've been eyeing the Herbivore Botanicals brand for a while!

Barefoot Dream Robe: I have this robe and LOVE it! So soft and cozy! Any mom would be thrilled to get this on Mother's Day!

True Roots Cookbook: I've heard great things about this cookbook, by The OC's Kristin Cavallari. I follow her on Instagram and love seeing her day-to-day life with her three kiddos.

Jonathan Adler Grapefruit Candle: If you've ever been to SoulCycle then you know how energizing this scent is...it's wonderful! My girlfriend just got one and her whole house smells amazing!!

Mojave Ghost Perfume: This scent has been on my wishlist for a while. It's spendy, but I hear it's worth it!

Cuyana Travel Case Set: I have a new obsession with everything Cuyana. I have their tote and and mini tassel bag {love!} so naturally I'm scoping out their other items! It's all very good quality!

Madewell Slides: I actually love the blush and mustard in these slides...so cute and fun for summer!

Hope this spurs some ideas! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

How Do We Feel About Overalls?

How do we feel about overalls? I definitely sported them in middle school and thought that was the last I'd ever see of them. But here we are...and I am definitely digging this trend, which is now more fitted and edgy. After reading of reviews, I took the plunge and bought these {also here, and cheaper here}. The question is...can I pull them off???! Let's check out some other ladies to see how they do it!

So what do you think? Yes or no??

#SchueChef: Energy Bites

When I'm on the go and need a quick snack, I love being able to grab this little balls of protein! They're easy to make, the kids love them too and they're tasty!!

Recipe:
  • 1 cup of oatmeal {I used GF here and they were a little more dry than usual}
  • 2/3 cup toasted coconut flakes
  • 1/2 peanut butter {or any type of nut butter}
  • 1/2 cup ground flax seed
  • 1/3 cup honey {agave works too}
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
Stir all of the ingredients together. Let chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. Roll into 1 inch balls and store in the fridge in an air-tight container. Add extra honey and/or PB if you need them to stick better. Enjoy!

Design Showcase: A Sweet Nursery

Basket + Rug {also here! Love this one too!} + Unicorn Rocker {on sale! }

Hi Friends!

Sorry for the longer than usual silence. I've been in a kind of "blogger mourning" since I heard the news about Polyvore going away. Polyvore was the website that I used for creating all my design boards. It was easy and comfortable and I've been kind of paralyzed by the shift...to the point that I was unsure if it made sense to continue this blog! But...then as fate would have it, a sweet reader, Ashley, reached out {thank you for those of you that continue to tune in!} and asked if I was still open to doing design work.

As a back story, I did free design boards a while back to help stretch my creativity and create content. I was really happy to hear that Ashley wanted my help in creating a space for her daughter's nursery. Of course I jumped at the chance {and loved creating a space for a little girl!}. Here's what she emailed me:

I have been a follower for awhile and wanted to see if you would take a stab at a room design--I know you used to do them all the time and I love your style!! I am expecting a baby girl in August and really need to get started on the nursery. It is already painted but nothing else is done. We painted it Behr "Mortar" - a light grey with little hints of sage/seafoam green.

The furniture we have so far is the Babyletto Scoot Crib in white and the West Elm Graham Glider in dove grey. Both are ordered but have not arrived yet! Also, that vintage toy chest you see there was my husband's and we would like to work that in as well and are open to refinishing/painting it.

I was hoping to use greys, whites, and blush pink with pops of seafoam green and gold. As you’ll see I’m torn between a neutral rug and a colorful rug. I like a neutral room with pops of color!

Challenge accepted!

I love the light gray walls and the idea of reusing her husband's play chest. I actually don't think that it needs to be refinished at all since there will be a lot of white and wood tones in the room.

This was my first attempt at the design...

My good friend has this rug IRL {it looks funny here but trust me, it's gorgeous! See examples here + here} and I think it will add just the right amount of color without going overboard! This is another version of this rug with a bit more muted colors.

The artwork is so cute and help ties the color scheme together.

Also, Opalhouse at Target is really perfect for nurseries. There are a ton of adorable options {don't tell anyone but I am not a huge fan of the line for myself, but could totally get behind using it for a nursery!}. This elephant basket is another example and would be so cute as a clothes hamper!

Once I sent the design board over, Ashley asked to see a more neutral rug and different art over the bed.

Rug + Artwork

I made a quick swap, which I love for a more subdued look!

So now for the decision!

I'm so glad our mama-to-be is happy with these design options! I hope she sends pictures so we can see the final product!

Easter 2018

Happy Monday!

We had a wonderful Easter weekend, with exceptionally nice weather. It feel amazing to be outside and soaking up some much needed Vitamin D!

Dying eggs in short sleeves and shorts with the surrounding snow. That's spring in Tahoe for ya!

Sunday morning kicked off with an Easter egg hunt at home + Easter baskets. We got the boys a new teepee this year and the cutest dinosaur slippers! Wyatt wants to wear his everywhere!

My Dress + Shoes {in black

Later that morning, we went to our friend's house for brunch + an outdoor Easter egg hunt! So much  fun!

I loved seeing Wyatt really get in the spirit this year...he was much more competitive with his Easter Egg hunting skills!

Gang's all here!

That evening, we had dinner with Ryan's family which was the perfect end to a great day!

I hope you had a wonderful Easter!!
