Ethan had his first swim lesson this past weekend and loved it!
Case in point!
This past weekend, Ryan took the lead as his swimming buddy, but I definitely want to get in on the action. First things first though, I really need a more appropriate bathing suit to wear. I know I would feel more comfortable wearing a one piece or tankini, not to mention that there tends to be more wardrobe malfunctions when wearing a two piece.
I've never had a desire to buy a one-piece and as a result, I'm having a super hard time trying to pick on. To spend a lot of money or not? To buy a one piece or tankini? To buy something more stylish or more functional...I need help deciding! Here are the options I'm considering:
I love the look of this suit, but worry the top might not provide enough coverage and support. Plus it's pretty expensive!
The back is super cute on this one-piece suit.
This suit comes with straps which would make it 'mom-friendly' but also stylish. It's also a tankini so I could wear whatever bottoms with it.
This suit comes in a ton of colors and even though the top is plunging, my bust is much smaller, so I don't think it would be as revealing on me.
The last option is to just grab a cheap one from Target...they have a ton of options, like the one above.
So...which one would you choose??

Coral DKNY!! It's so cute and seems like it would be flattering as well!
ReplyDeleteI love the black and white DKNY tankini! I prefer tankinis all the time anyway. Make sure it's not too low cut since they tend to grab on in the water.
ReplyDeleteLove the navy Victoria's Secret one, it's right between expensive and cheap!
ReplyDeleteLove the DKNY and Victoria's Secret. I probably would go with the DKNY one though. So cute!
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about summer already and I've been having the same problem. I just don't see how I'll be able to play with a one year old in a two piece. Things would be popping out all over the place! lol
I'd go with the DYNY one, or maybe one like this: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/la-blanca-sweetheart-one-piece-swimsuit/3065998?cm_ven=Linkshare&cm_cat=partner&cm_pla=15&cm_ite=1&siteId=QFGLnEolOWg-xE.yi0rHj9SdRsPeD8IP4w saw it on a girl I follow on instagram and it is gorgeous (and has some nicely placed ruching!!)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the striped bandeau DKNY! It's such a difficult decision when purchasing your first one piece. Ha! I made the transition to a momkini this summer. Kind of depressing but also kind of freeing. ;)

I have the DKNY and Victoria secret bathing suits that I got after my second kid. Both are great and provide good coverage. I like the DKNY the best because it is a one piece and if my stomach isn't looking great, I don't worry too much.
ReplyDeleteThey are all very pretty but I think I like the Victoria Secret one the best, in fact I might buy that one! I can't wear one pieces since my waist is too long. Let us know which you choose!

I love the first one or the black and white DKNY! I had to buy one this summer when Estella started swim lessons and I had really good luck with Kenneth Cole. I bought a tankini because I think they are much more comfortable then a one piece! Good luck finding the perfect one:)
ReplyDeleteI kind of like the black DKNY one. I also like the first one...but not worth it if it's too pricey! Good luck! I need one too actually.
ReplyDeleteI'm having the same issue. I have been looking for one since we started swimming last spring. I spent the whole session being the only mom in a bikini, and I am not doing that again. I was nearly fully exposed multiple times. Toddlers are super grabby in the pool. I've been looking for the perfect black tankini. Let us know what you find!
ReplyDeletemy vote is for the first one -- adorable and love how its a little drapey and forgiving in the front! xo

Love the DKNY one!
ReplyDeletecute picks! I was like 16-20 wks i think when we did swim w A. I just bought cheap old navy 1 pieces sine i still typically wear a two piece elsewhere. They had some cute options and were stretchy enoughto still fit. JCrew always has cute options too!
ReplyDeleteWe got a leperla one at nordstroms with rouching so it'll grow with my new pregnancy.. But I did rock a bikini for Landon's 1st year of swimming! (We started at 6 months!)
ReplyDeleteI really like the first one. : )
ReplyDeleteLove that DKNY one!
ReplyDeleteI like them all except for the coral one. Only because I am not a huge fan of horizontal stripes they make everything look wider!
ReplyDeletei caved and got a cute mom suit at old navy last year. i love the fit and the fact that my ladies stay put. ;) cute options! ps also loving pantones color of the year!
ReplyDeleteI like the black and white DKNY option. I totally know what you mean...I didn't wear anything but a bikini until I was pregnant with my daughter. For our trips to the pool this summer, I most definitely sported a tankini as it's easier to stay covered while running after a little one!
ReplyDeleteI have a suit that I SWEAR by when playing with my daughter in the pool and any family function really. I love this thing and may buy 2 more since they're on sale:

They're all so cute!! I was just at the mall this morning & had to stop to check out all of the one pieces, since I will have total post-baby belly going on this summer. Eeek! :) I can't wait to see all of j.crew's new pieces! XO
ReplyDeleteI am loving the DKNY one!! That would be my choice if I had the cash for it!
ReplyDeleteOh man! I need to find myself a mom swimsuit too!!!
ReplyDeletei am glad to know i am not the only one struggling in this department!! i am hoping jcrew and target will be my go-to destinations for swimsuits this season that are cute, but still offer coverage while i chase minis around the pool...that striped DKNY option is gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteI like the look of the navy blue on from VS!
ReplyDeleteI love the Coral DKNY one! It seems super practical and it's so pretty! And look how cute Ethan is in the pool!
ReplyDeleteLoving the first one! Looks cute and forgiving but might be a little problematic with grabby hands. Let us know what you find! I'm going to be needing to shop for this soon too...
ReplyDeleteless expensive at Target or Wal Mart or Old Navy at an outlet mall; especially if you do a lot of swimming you can have more than one. plus, it gives you more of an option should you not be that happy with a choice.
ReplyDeleteThose pictures are SO cute:) Our daughter who is Ethan's age just started swimming lessons as well...she loves it! I definitely understand your dilemma with a suit...this summer I started wearing a super cute suit from J.Crew that had a short little skirt and tankini top and I bought the bikini top so that I could mix it up. We spent almost everyday at a pool with a splash pad and since I wasn't entirely in the water but just standing about it helped me feel a bit more covered while bending and crouching. The suit from VS is really cute as well:)
ReplyDeleteI've been having the same problem! I don't think a bikini is appropriate for swim lessons, but I've never had a one piece!
ReplyDeleteSummer is a really "hot" day ,you can go swim
