Lake Michigan was the first lake I fell in love with and it's still one of my favorites {next to Tahoe of course!}. It's very different from Lake Tahoe though in the fact that it is SO much bigger. And one a sunny day, the water is perfectly calm.
I have always loved the grassy dunes and how green it makes everything. We used to play hide and go seek and hunt for frogs in those dunes!
I seriously cannot wait for the day until Ethan can do the same.
But for now...we'll play in them for a bit.
And enjoy the beach!
The sand is so much more fine in Michigan, so Ethan was having a hey day with the texture. He even plopped his face in it!
Ethan loves giving "loves now"...especially while mama is busy reading! ;)
We love going over to White Lake to check out the lighthouse.
Having just finished reading Whiskey Beach on this trip...this shot above totally remind me of it! Love my trashy romance/mystery novels! ;)
And of course, the old bayou.
We didn't get to see any turtles this time though!
And while our trip was super low key...spending time on the beach and with family...we did get to sneak in a fun blogger meet up with Julie from the Girl in the Red Shoes and Baby Hudson!!
I mean, how cute are these little buddies?! It was so nice to finally meet Julie! We've formed a close bond having both had boys around the same time and I can tell you she is the sweetest person in real life! Just as gorgeous as she looks on the blog and so down to earth. We loved swapping mama stories and learning how each of the boys are doing. I loved it...and wish we lived closer so the boys could grow up together.
Luckily, we plan to get back to Michigan more often so Ethan can enjoy all of the things that I did growing up.
Lake Michigan holds a special place in my heart...and always will!
Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. It is a beautiful place. Hubby grew up on Lake Huron.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Looks like a little piece of heaven.
ReplyDeleteGreat vacation!! Ethan looks really happy on the beach! I think Owen still has sand in his ears from our beach days last week.
ReplyDeleteLake Michigan really is beautiful. Sadly we were able to make only one trip there while we lived in Ann Arbor, but I'm so glad we did!

Hello Newlywed Life Blog
I love him giving you love such a sweet, sweet boy!! Happy baby!
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of my childhood! I was born in Arizona but the rest of my family, including my siblings, are from Michigan. I remember all those long drives to Michigan in the summer where I would swim in Lake Huron and normally freeze in the water! Your pictures make me very reminiscent. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLooks super relaxing
ReplyDeleteAww so glad you had a great time!
ReplyDeleteSo so so fun! I love Lake Michigan, too. Ah! To have a "cottage" there (as they call them, even though they're massive homes!) one day. Such cute pictures!
ReplyDeleteJust love seeing these photos. The shot of E giving you loves while reading is precious. What a fun trip!
ReplyDeleteLake Michigan looks beautiful. My Grandmother grew up spending her summers there. I agree with Courtney...the photo of Ethan giving you loves while reading is adorable. And, the two buddies! How cute they are together!
ReplyDeleteWe vacation in on "the big lake" just north of Montague in the summer, but I don't remember seeing the lighthouse at White Lake. Maybe we'll have to drag ourselves away from the lake a little more next year. But since we share a view of the lake like yours it's pretty hard to do. Do you go for malteds at Lipka's? That's one of our traditions when we're in town. I which we owned the cottage we stay at, because two weeks just isn't enough lake fun for me. Maybe some day. Until then I <3 West Michigan!
ReplyDeleteSuch great pics...little E is just the cutest, and you guys are the sweetest family!
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness that picture of E giving you lovins...so presh! I also love his little comb over hair style...such a ladies man!
ReplyDeleteJust catching up on your blog, finally. What an awesome trip. So jealous that you got to hang out with Julie and Hudson! Wouldn't it be great if we could all meet up sometime. Our boys would have so much fun!
