Weight: I'm guessing we're pushing 14+ by now!
Health: A little congested, but otherwise, healthy and happy.
Sleep: Ugh, we're waking up 2-3, sometimes 4 times a night. Brutal. I've noticed that if we let him cry a little, he'll usually soothe himself back to sleep, but it's hit or miss.
Social: We had an "ugly Christmas sweater party" over at Jane's house this past weekend. Ethan got to meet another baby who is his age. They were too cute, holding hands and checking each other out.
Diet: Welp, we finally introduced formula to the diet. I'm still nursing him when I'm with him, but on the days I'm at work, we're supplementing half and half. And no surprise, he downed it like a champ. I think we're going to go ahead and introduce rice cereal soon...or oatmeal. I've heard reviews on both. If you're a mama with experience on this topic, let me know!
Clothes: Still 3-6 for the most part with a mix of 6-9. Also still rocking his 2 diapers.
Baby Gear
Love: Ethan loves anything he can chew on...including chewbeads and Sopie. He's also really digging anything that moves or lights up. So much fun!
Crying: Just when he's tired.
Likes: Sucking on his hand or thumb. Smiling and laughing!
Postpartum: Let's just say that I'm indulging in the holidays and it's starting to show.
Milestones: We've got a sitting baby!! Yep, Ethan is figuring out the balancing act that is sitting. He's not a pro yet, but it is so fun to see him propped up. And of course it gives him all sorts of new opportunities to play!
And we also met Santa for the first time! It wasn't the first meeting that I envisioned, but I panicked that we hadn't met him yet, so we made it happen. Ethan was super intrigued by his beard.

Your Ethan is adorable! I can't believe he is sitting up by himself. My Sam is about a week younger (I think) and he has no interest in it right now.
ReplyDeleteOur Dr told us to start on the oatmeal at 4 months but we noticed my son breaking out... unfortunately we had switched his detergent at the same time so we didn't know which caused it. I stopped until recently and he did it again :( So instead we tried rice cereal and it seems to be okay. I was hesitant about the rice bc of the recent arsenic they found in it but we are using organic so I don't know...
Either way my guy LOVES him some food! :) Good luck with it!
So cute! My baby is a two weeks older and we introduced rice cereal and now oatmeal cereal and are going to start avocado and sweet potato soon. We used Earths Best brand for the baby cereal. Have fun! It is messy but so cute watching them eat.

I can't believe he is sitting up! He looks like such a big boy, I love it!
ReplyDeleteEthan gets cuter and cuter!! And I don't know how?! :) He is seriously adorable, and I love how you dress him! Daddy looks awfully proud of his lil man!
ReplyDeleteOMG the moose booties!! I must get D a pair. Where did you get those?
ReplyDeleteThey're Gymboree! :)
DeleteGeez he is a cute kid!!! Love the moose booties! On the topic of rice cereal: our peds told us to skip it all together and go straight for bananas, avocado and sweet potatoes. We tried is anyway and Liam really wasn't a fan so we went straight to baby food. Gerber organics have several that have oatmeal and granola mixed in. It seemed to work well for us- Good luck! Can't wait to hea how it goes for you!!

My doc said the same thing and it worked out just fine. We did give oatmeal and baby rice cereal here and there. There's a great website a friend gave me with tons of ideas and recipes for baby foods and even a chart you can print out. They also have a "baby led" weaning section.

My little girl loved avocado as her first food. LOVED it. But now she won't eat it! I think it is too slippery for her to pick up.
Baby Ethan is SO cute!
Too cute! Time sure does fly...can't believe you have already written 24 of these!
ReplyDeleteMy son loves baby oatmeal! We skipped rice cereal altogether and started with fruits and veggies first, but then added oatmeal last week. I make it a little thicker than what the directions recommend and it's perfect for him. Really the only reason I went with oatmeal instead is because it has a lot more vitamins in it. And I eat oatmeal every morning so it will be cute to have breakfast together!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE him!! I also love those balls that are lit up on a string!
ReplyDeleteThey're from Target! ;)
DeleteCameron is just one week younger, and we skipped rice and oatmeal and started right with sweet potatoes. He loved them! Each week, we introduce a new food, and his day care just started giving him oatmeal and rice cereal with his lunch, so it fills him up more (so he naps more). So, we are going to start adding it at dinner, too.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe he's sitting up!!! So adorable. :)
Oh thank you! This is so helpful!
DeleteAwww looks like Ethan's really enjoying the holidays :-) What a cutie!
ReplyDeleteWoohoo on the sitting, they really become fun now! And no guilt on the formula woman! You are doing what is best for you boy, that's all that matters, no shame! No experience really on cereal, but when I use to thicken A's purees I use the oatmeal. I don't like that report about arsenic being in the rice came out right when I was going to introduce, so I skip rice because of that...
ReplyDeleteYay for Ethan! I've heard sitting is just the beginning for him :) It leads to pulling up, and then walking etc. He must be so proud of himself!
ReplyDeleteIm about to start supplementing as well... Half and half. I hope Kaden takes it like Ethan. We tried rice cereal.... K didn't go for it. Oatmeal though... Loves it!
ReplyDeleteSo cute and happy! Way to go mom!
ReplyDeleteThat photo with santa is too cute for words!!! And I also love the photo with the ornament/light strings :) Can't wait to hear more about the ugly sweater party... Jane is one of my favorites!

Sweet little thing! And super excited for tomorrow's link up!
ReplyDeleteDo you mind sharing what kind of formula you started him on?
ReplyDeleteHi Irene! We started using Earth's Best Organic and he likes it a lot, but it is super pricey. So we may switch to Up&Up which is the Target brand, and gets great reviews as well. We'll see!
DeleteStarting showing wear lady?! I see nothing but beauty, as usual! #barf #sojealous
ReplyDeletebut hey, Ethan is looking fantastic. ;)
Look at that cutie pie sitting up?! Getting so big! He is darling as usual. Love his sweet smile. I remember being anxious when we first introduced formula even though I still mainly nurse him, those first few bottles can be hard. We did oatmeal cereal first, then rice, he seems to like the oatmeal a little better but we always mix it with fruit so it probably doesn't matter much now.
ReplyDeleteHe has the best little outfits!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe he's already sitting up! Big boy! When we introduced foods to Eliza, we used Happy Bellies Organic Super Cereals and we started with the brown rice cereal. It took a while for her not to get it everywhere, but now she's on to sweet potatoes, bananas, and pears. If you're interested it making his food, we use wholesomebabyfood.com and our bible. It gives good guidelines for what they can eat at what ages and great recipes. If you're going to make his food, I highly recommend getting an immersion blender, makes it really easy to puree the food once you cook it.
ReplyDeleteHes an absolute doll! I love his cute outfits!
ReplyDeleteWe started rice cereal yesterday after Matthew's four month check up. They said to go ahead and do it since he kept throwing up after his feedings, to chunk up the formula. It works with the bottle, but when we tried to spoon feed him he had a fit, and it just sat in his mouth while he screamed & poured out, it was sad to watch. So I think I'm just going to give it in the bottle for a while.
ReplyDeleteHe is just so sweet!
ReplyDeleteWe tried rice cereal and our son wasn't a fan so we went to oatmeal, which he loved (and still does at 16 months). Like a previous commenter, we love the Happy Baby oatmeal, and all of the Happy Baby foods--when Ethan's ready for more!
Love these updates! Definitely something you will appreciate looking back on and I'm sure it's helpful to other new moms! I can't want to have kids! Love all of his little outfits! So stylish!
ReplyDeleteRylan is a week or so younger, but we started rice cereal about a month or so ago only at dinnertime. We recently started two meals a day, one is cereal and the other is either fruits or veggies. She gobbles anything up. I even put a *tiny* bit of pumpkin pie spice in her oatmeal for a little treat every once in a while! Other than that, it's sweet potatoes, applesauce, and mashed bananas (all organic, of course). The kid will literally eat half a mashed banana! She tried avocado and was a little hesitant, and had a hard time digesting it--will try again in another month or so. Carrots are next on the agenda. We play the 4-day rule, and only introduce new things at dinnertime. How did you make the decision to supplement? I've been having some tough convos with my babysitter as she thinks Ry needs more with each bottle. Since she's literally drinking everything I pump, I feel that I have no choice. Have heard great things about the target brand though! I'm just having a hard time deciding HOW to supplement. Advice is welcome!
ReplyDeleteHe is seriously such a little doll and you look amazing girl! Sorry about the not so great sleep...hopefully that stage will pass soon. We tried rice cereal with Ava and she wasn't really a fan...we went straight into pureed foods and no surprise she gobbled it up!
ReplyDeleteWe started with oatmeal, right at 6 months. Our little man loved it and we had no issues at all!
ReplyDeleteSo cute as always. I love those PJs in his last pic - where did you get them?
ReplyDeleteI'd have to look in the baby book (that needs to be updated), but I think we gave Max banana or sweet potato first! (I'm leaning towards sweet potato).
I saw those chew beads at a store recently. I should get some. Max wasn't really much of a chewer or grabber, but I have a feeling Sadie will be - thanks for the reminder!

More more more. Everytime I read an update I want to hear more. We started with rice cereal but not really sure why! I do remember sweet potatoes coming quickly!
ReplyDeleteEven though I get to see Ethan in person, I still love these posts because he's seriously so cute. Like there are 4 kids in Cam's family and Ethan Grant Schue is the child that is going to push him over the edge with baby fever...ha! But is that stripped fleece onesie thing with the cute little ears on the hood from Old Navy? I think we just bought the same one except gray and white stripped for our friends' new baby in Michigan...it's darling and looks so warm! Also, idk what you're talking about with this holiday sweets taking a toll because you look fab and also you just had a child...I have no excuse except for the fact I literally cannot resist sugar ;)
ReplyDeleteLOVE these posts! he is such a cutie and he seems to grow between each post!! love keeping up-to-date with his progress :) xx
ReplyDeleteOMG he is THE cutest little boy!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHaha, he reminds me of Jack Jack from The Incredibles on the first and last pictures!
ReplyDeleteEthan really is the most perfect baby I've ever seen. Those eyes melt my heart :)
Yep, he's still getting cuter by the day! Sitting up is a big milestone! Mac has been sitting for a week or two and he just started crawling! It kills me! And I don't know anything about rice cereal...we are doing baby-led weaning so we skipped that skip and went straight to food.
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm pretty sure this is my new blog crush! I found you through Ashley @ Design Build Love. I just had my first baby 9 weeks ago, so I love this kind of post!
