Happy Halloweenie!!
Today is Ethan's first Halloween and he just turned 18 weeks yesterday! Parade!
I mean...can you even get over this cuteness?! We plan on going to his great-grandma's house to hand out candy and check out all the trick-or-treaters! So excited!
Weight: We have his official weigh-in today...I'll update later! :)
Health: Ethan's been pretty healthy this last week. His stuffy nose has even cleared up. He did have this raised bumpy spot on the back of his head for several days {maybe even weeks} but it seems to be going away now. I'll be sure to ask the doctor what it is.
Social: My dad came to visit for one night last weekend. He hadn't seen Ethan since he was first born! So it was fun to see them interact...Ethan loved feeling his beard. He's very into texture right now.
Sleep: Oh sleep..this one has been a toughy. We attempted to break Ethan out of his swaddle two weeks ago to new avail. So now he sleeps in his Halo sleep sack, swaddled. He is still waking up at 4am to nurse and then goes right back down. But two hours later, he starts to cry again. So we've been taking him out to sleep in his swing, since we're both working and it's easier to pacify him this way. Clearly...this will cause more issues for us down the road, so we need to figure out a better system. I think our biggest downfall is that we don't "put" him down to sleep at night at a specific time. We kind of just let him fall asleep in his swing and then I'll nurse him again around 10 before putting him in his crib. It used to work, but I think it's becoming more of an issue than we realize. Any suggestions on transitioning to the sleep sack are welcome!
Diet: Mama's milk...still nursing when I'm with him and pumping so he gets a bottle when he's away from me. I'm also confirming with the doc about how much he should be getting in his bottle right now.
Clothes: 3-6 months
Baby Gear
Love: We finally got Ethan his jumperoo! And he loves it more and more each time he uses it. At first, I don't think he knew what to make of it. But now he's discovering that he can jump and turn and make noise. So much fun to watch!
Crying: Usually only at night...at 4am and 6am.
Likes: Ethan loves his toys and putting them in his mouth! Especially Sophie and his teething rings. He also loves to snuggle more and more...which of course I LOVE. I can't get enough of it. And he still loves his baths...he can kick for days in there!
Postpartum: Nothing too new here...trying to do spin and pilates a couple times a week!
Milestones: Baby's first Halloween! So excited!!
One last sweet face! Love my punkin!!

Natasha, i also had troubles transitioning my daughter out of her swaddle. it took about a week but we did it. i started swaddling her more loose than usual at first and then swaddled her under arms (kind of around waist) only. that way she still felt some cozy tightness but arm were out.
ReplyDeleteadorable little guy.
OMG the little bones sleeper is my favorite! So cute!! Happy Halloween Ethan!! Happy Giant's day parade!!!
ReplyDeleteMajor sweetness going on here :) And you make a seriously adorable mama! XO Brynn

ReplyDeleteThose costumes are just so precious...dying over that little fleece number with the horns! TOO CUTE!!!
ReplyDeleteI just love Ethan's sweet little face! What cute little costumes. Sooo adorable. How do you get anything done?! I would just want to stare at him all day. :) HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
ReplyDeleteHe has so many cute outfits!!! So fun!
ReplyDeleteHooray for sweet baby's first halloween! He is swoon-worthy-adorable! xoxo
ReplyDeleteSo cute!!! He is a little ham. :) We are about to transition Cam out of his swaddle, too, and got a great recommendation from our friend who has a 6 month old. She SWEARS by the Baby Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit http://www.magicsleepsuit.com/ and said she never would have survived the transition without it! We have ordered ours and are going to start using it as soon as it arrives! I have also heard great things about just swaddling the bottom, but for Cameron, it's his arms that wake him up/knock the pacifier out.
ReplyDeleteThe picture of Ethan in the Bumbo with Sophie is an EXACT replica of a picture we have of Cameron...that is kind of his "station" right now! Haha!
Adorable as always :)
Oh, and if you enter Facebook20 on the comments section when checking out, you get 20% off!
ReplyDeleteLove the Jumperoo! WE have that same one and Finn loves it. He's actually in it right now. I just love watching him bounce around with that big grin on his face. Happy times:) Ethan's looking great, and you too!

Wow he is probably the cutest pumpkin ever! And I love his little face in his jumperoo!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet little pumpkin!!! The transition from swaddling is hard! We started out leaving our little man's arms out and just swaddling his lower half. This worked for us because he would kick and wake himself up. Then we gradually transitioned out of that. It was a process! I read a great book called "The Sleep Lady's Good Night, Sleep Tight." we had sleep problems with our son for a while and are just not cry it out people. Our son is now 16 months old and is finally sleeping all night long in his crib. I highly recommend checking it out. I wish I would've found it sooner than I did!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little pumpkin! I also love the skeleton outfit with the candy in his tummy!
ReplyDeleteGreat choice on the jumparoo! We had a hard time transitioning out of the swaddle too. We kept one arm out and eventually she adjusted. It took time though!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie!! Love all the Halloween outfits!
ReplyDeleteHave you thought about letting him "cry it out" at the 4am feeding. I'm a Babywise mom (not strict) and the book mentions that their biological clocks get stuck and you have to help them transition by allowing them to cry it out. It's so hard to do but in the long run he and your sleep deprived self will thank you!
ReplyDeleteI think he is starting to really enjoy these photo sessions! : )
ReplyDeletehe is the sweetest like skeleton!! I can't wait to use a jumper with matthew, he loves being up and moving so we will see!! I want SNOW!! It's too hot here in GA.
ReplyDeleteYour mantel looks great!! Super festive! I need to get started on all my decorating too! And look at little Ethan!! What a cutie!
ReplyDeleteThe Jumperoo is THE BEST!! My son LOVED it- so much fun to watch him jump all around in it :)
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot! Your little boy looks so cute! :)

Oh my cuteness! He is so adorable! And btw, you look AMAZING! Xo
ReplyDeleteWow, Ethan is getting so big! He's adorable in all of his little Halloween costumes.
ReplyDeleteI'm so far behind on my blog reading! 18 weeks! He's getting so big! I absolutely LOVE the Halloween costumes. That pumpkin is adorable! And I so wish I had good advice on how to get him to sleep more/longer. Mac doesn't sleep well either and I know it's probably because we're doing it all wrong. He naps in the swing during the day and sleeps in his bed at night. We put him to bed sometime between 7:00 - 8:00 (usually when he has a meltdown, which lets us know he's ready). He falls alseep on my shoulder right after his bottle. I know we should probably put him to bed earlier (and put him in his crib when he's still awake), but that means I wouldn't hardly get to see him at all after work and I'd miss out on snuggles. Maybe I'm just selfish, but I love that he falls asleep snuggling with me.
ReplyDeletedying over ethan's skeleton outfit!! adorable!!
