Weight: Ethan had his official weigh in yesterday...he's 11 lbs 13 oz and 24.5 inches long! That's 5 whole inches longer than when he was born! Wow!
Health: Baby had his second shots on Tuesday and did a lot better than the first time. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to be there, but Ryan did awesome with him. So glad he handled them ok this time.
Sleep: We're still getting 6-7 stretches out of the little guy, but every now and then {like two nights ago} he'll wake up randomly and need to be nursed at about three in the morning. He goes right back down afterwards, which is good, but I'm hoping he's not forming a trend. It's not consistent, so I guess we'll proceed with caution. I'm not ready to let him "cry it out" quite yet.
Wilson is such a protective big brother!
Diet: Mama's Milk...and he's starting to take it more from a bottle which is great! I'm officially back to work this week {more on that below} so it's interesting to see how much I pump during the day. I want to make sure he gets about then same amount that I pump so that it doesn't screw up his demand in comparison to what I pump. Hopefully I'll get the hang of it soon. Any tips on this would be great! ;)
Clothes: Still in 0-3 months but I'm thinking we'll start bringing out his 3-6 month jammies soon. And we started using 2 diapers...though he still fits in his 1's. We'll start that transition once he's gone through the rest of his smaller supply.
Baby Gear
Love: Baby Boy is loving his toys...particularly Sophie the giraffe. He also loves spending time in his bumbo...he's discovered a whole new world by sitting up! This has allowed us to start putting him in the main part of his BOB jogger as well...no more carseat attachment!
Ethan got to meet Cruz this past weekend. She's my college roommate's beautiful daughter! They're already in love! ;)
Crying: While Ethan is pretty happy-go-lucky most days, he does get upset from time-to-time. We're pretty sure that it's gas 90% of the time...which a little gripe water cures almost instantly. I think he also experiences getting overly-tired...and with all the traveling we've been doing, we can't blame him for being thrown off his schedule and getting cranky about it. All in all though, he's pretty easy to please! :)
Likes: We're finding that Ethan loves women! He totally hams it up when there are women around...just smiling up a storm. A perfect example was when we were getting off the plane this past weekend and a bunch of women were coo'ing at him and he just started flirting with smiles and giggles! It was too cute for words! He also loved getting to spend time with his Aunt Lauren and Uncle Ryan this past weekend.
Another thing he loves to do is cuddle whether with a lovie or blankie...he loves having something cozy right up next to his face. It's the cutest!
And last, my favorite new thing that he does is giving kisses. Well...let me rephrase that...he lets me kiss him right on the mouth and he greets me with a big, sloppy, wet kiss. Sometimes he throws a little tongue in there as well. It just cracks me up and is seriously the sweetest thing ever. I just love him to pieces.
Postpartum: So yes, I'm back to work this week. I'm super fortunate to work for a company and a manager that values family, so I will be working in the office three days a week and from home the other two days so that I can be with Baby E. This has definitely helped with my anxiety about returning to work. Tuesday was my first day and it was actually nice to get dressed for the day and have adult interactions. Of course, I missed my little guy like crazy, but I think I will survive it! I was able to go see him for lunch, which was so nice. Definitely an upside to living in a small town...everything is about 5-10 minutes away. Overall, I know Ethan is in good hands and being loved on a ton, so of course, that helps too!
In other news, I've started using my spin bike, which has just been amazing! It's so convenient to hop on while Ethan takes a nap and I know once the cooler weather gets here, it will be even better. Oh and I think the hair shedding has officially begun. Awesome.
Milestones: Baby had lots of milestones this past week! He got to visit the ocean and dip his feet in for the first time! He also got to go to his first baseball game at Petco Park...and the Giants won! ;) We transitioned him into the "big boy" portion of his stroller. And he also had his first official babysitting session with his Aunt Lauren...which he did great with.

What a doll! He's just adorable in that shot with Wilson. I'm so happy that going back to work is working well!
ReplyDeleteHe is just so cute!! Good luck going back to work - I'm sure it will be great (especially with an amazing boss like that) and you will enjoy your time with E and the time you get to feel...independent again! i.e. lunch with friends, bathroom on your own :-)
ReplyDeleteHe is growing up so fast! He is so handsome, love that sweet face. He is such a great combo of you and your husband. Glad to hear work went well. I love days I can get dressed up and out solo!
ReplyDeleteAah. He is adorable. Love the picture of him and Wilson. :) I'm so glad starting back work has gone okay. And your schedule sounds great and easy to work with. I don't have kids yet---but very recently I learned about how you will start losing your hair generally 3 months after having the baby (aka epidural). That is wild and I'm sure very strange at first....haha.
ReplyDeleteSounds like all three of you are doing great! That's amazing that you're able to work from home two days a week and I'm glad it hasn't been too tough leaving him for extended periods of time. He sounds like such a little sweetie!

ReplyDeleteAww, he's a tall peanut! (Taller than A, but weighs sooo much less LOL!) A also snuggles with her lovey, actually she usually ends up with it over her face when she falls asleep - cue freak out from mommy!
ReplyDeleteSo many milestones for E! And the picture with Wilson is adorable, love it!
So cute..glad he had so many milestones!! Lady's man...too cute!
ReplyDeleteAww he is just gorgeous! Love these little weekly updates :) xx
ReplyDeleteHe's seriously so so cute! Where might his khaki/white striped zip up jammies be from?
ReplyDeleteLook at that brotherly love, so stinkin cute that Wilson just sits there!!! Good to hear going back to work went well, hope the rest of your week is just as good!
ReplyDeleteSo stinking cute that little Ethan is! And so happy he has traveled well for y'all. I know that helps a ton! Good luck back at work, I know it is probably hard but that is awesome you can work from home too! I am about to be doing a very similar schedule! Two days, for a few hours working, then home the other days. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a CUTIE. Good luck with your back to work. I'd like to make my work situation better like that! I work way too much at work (and at home). I'll eventually figure out that change!

I love him! Can't believe he's 14 weeks old! :)
ReplyDeleteTime is flying! I don't know about you.. but half of me just wants to freeze this baby phase. I love it! He is just so cute.. can't get over all the darling photos.
ReplyDeleteOh Natasha he is such a doll. So awesome about work and the two days from home. It does feel nice to be among adults but now you can jet home when you need to. Squeezes to you all!
ReplyDeleteI'm not looking forward to shots, its going to be so sad. I remember in the hospital they kept giving him shots & I wanted to hide him from all the nurses. We already put Matthew in size too at 2 months now, I think I have a chubby short little guy :) Plus I heard if you put them in diapers that are a little bigger they will sleep longer at night, who knows. Someone told me that when they nurse they get more because they pull harder and work harder for it then the pump, but If you pump for 15 minutes with a double pump, maybe add another 5-10 minutes on & you'll probably get the same amount?! don't quote me on it!!
ReplyDeleteLook at baby E!! His hair is getting so dark. Such a growing little boy :)
ReplyDeleteSo you have a ladies man on your hands! Ha... So glad you had a good first week back at work. Great that you can work from home a bit, too!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, can't believe how big he is getting!! That photo of him with Wilson is adorable! :)

Well you two certainly make beautiful babies!! Many congrats and enjoy, enjoy ;)
ReplyDeleteOh he is so handsome! And you seem to be an A+ mama! It's fun reading what you are enjoying at his age. All he same things I liked (aren't baby kisses the juiciest?). Proud of you for going back to work with such ease. I wish my district offered part time teachig positions. :(
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous. What a happy looking baby boy. They are just so precious. My gorgeous grandson turns 1 this month and I can't wait. I'm going to do the cake and dessert/savouries table styling. My son lives at the other end of the country, so I'm traveling from Sydney AUS to Mackay (QLD AUS, take a look at the distance on a map)to spend the week. I still have to work though and luckily I can do that with my job, travel and work.
