Weight: Ethan's exact weight is unknown but I'm guessing he's around 11 pounds at this point. :)
Health: We did notice the week after Ethan's first immunization shot {tdap included} that he was more fussy than usual. Ryan said that his arm was super tender after his tdap shot, so I can only imagine what it must feel like for baby. But otherwise, he's happy and healthy!
Sleep: We're still averaging about 6-7 hours at night. I usually have to wake him in the morning to feed him or pump or I feel like I might explode! The nice thing is, he'll go back to sleep until 9am or so. Pretty awesome!
We are also looking to buy a video monitor so we can start transitioning him to his crib...if only for nap time initially. I'm pretty set on the Summer Infant brand, but let me know if you mamas have a suggestion!
Diet: You guessed it! Mama's milk all day, everyday.
Clothes: Ethan's still fitting into his 0-3 month clothing...though his sleeper pjs with the feet on them are getting more and more snug. He's in 1 diapers...and we just changed to the Pamper Swaddlers...hoping for less blow outs.
Baby Gear Love: Toys!! Ethan is really starting to track toys and is getting the hang of his grasp. I love watching him hold things with a purpose {if only for a few seconds!}. And he's starting to really enjoy books. Ryan tries to read to him every night before bedtime and he's so mesmerized. Also, our little guy really likes to be on the move...whether it's the stroller, car, or swing...that's when he's most happy. Problem is, when he's not moving...he's a little fuss boat!
Which brings us to the baby carrier. We're going on our first trip to Minneapolis this coming weekend and we've decided it will be easier to transport him in a carier, versus bringing his stroller along. I recently purchased the BabyErgo, but naturally, Ethan likes to face outward...so the BabyBjorn seems to be the carrier of choice. Fingers crossed for us!!
Crying: As I mentioned above, Ethan had a rough week {I feel like I might have jinxed myself when I said what an "easy" baby he is}. He's been getting fussy right around 4-6 and is hard to calm. I'm thinking it's a combination of being over-stimulated and tired plus the discomfort of his first shots. We'll have to see!
Likes: Ethan's favorite time is right after he's nursed...he's really SO fun! He just hangs out, smiles, and TALKS {well...coos!} up a storm. I swear, he and Ryan have full on conversations. It's the sweetest thing ever. And as usual, he still loves his baths, walks, and swing time.
Postpartum: I'm feeling better and stronger everyday. Bought some new fall things over the weekend, which I hope will make me feel more like a "normal" person. :) I'm a tiny bit nervous/anxious for the traveling and weddings we have coming up. It's hard to find cute dresses that he can still nurse in. And of course, I just hope the whole wedding/nursing process goes smoothly. I'm thinking I will try to pump right before the wedding so we can give him a bottle in case he goes sideways at an inconvenient time. Any tips you have would be greatly appreciated!
OH and I cut my hair to about shoulder length...gotta say that I'm loving it! It's easy and looks much healthier!
Milestones: Ethan's gift of gab is definitely a milestone this week! His coo's, goo's, squeels and more have just delighted us!And I am almost positive that he's on the verge of giggling! Baby had his FIRST full on belly laugh last night! I was blowing raspberries and he just started cracking up! I even caught it on tape!! Makes me so excited!
{sorry for the bad quality...it was dark and I had NO idea he would keep it up!}
He can also stand when held...his legs are super strong! And he loves sitting on our laps looking out and taking in the action. I definitely think we have a social butterfly on our hands! ;)

{Fourth of July and Labor Day...it's hard to tell but he's really filled out this little onesie!}

He is just precious! Love that little smirk :) We have had great luck with Swaddlers...they're the only diaper we use now.
ReplyDeleteHe is just so cute. We love our Summer infant video monitor. Ellison went thru a crying spell around 10 weeks as well but got much better by 12 weeks. Hang in there. I'm glad he is doing so well at night!!!
ReplyDeleteSwaddlers are the best! We purchase them using Amazon Subscribe and Save + Amazon Mom and they cost about $43 for an entire month's supply.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie! I feel like we really turned a corner at this age and Tanner finally started interacting and having fun :)
ReplyDeleteWe have a Motorola video monitor and it's pretty awesome- you can watch (obvi), talk to them, play music/sounds, etc.
I bought a hand pump for when we attended a wedding. I didn't end up using but it definitely saved us on our 9+ hour car trip!
eeep! he is SOOO cute!! xoxo jillian:: cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteWe have the summer infant monitor and it's a MUST for me, such a life saver to be able to see her before going in. I can tell whether its just a fuss cry or if shes awake, and now that she's always trying to roll I'm glued to it.
ReplyDeleteI just want to share some info about the bjorns... I don't really want to give a personal comment and hesistant to even share this, because I kinda hate when people add their two cents of what's best for my kid, but I recently just saw both of these posts on FB and they made a lot of sense and it was something I never considered. Since you have other carriers, you at least have options to choose which you prefer, but of course use whichever is best for you, R, and E!

His belly laugh is adorable! Isn't it just the best sound and so surprising when they first do it? About the diapers... we use swaddlers as do all my girlfriends and we all agree they seem to work the best.
ReplyDeleteWe used to call the time between 6-9pm Saylor's witching hour. It was nonstop fuss but she would not be ready to go down to sleep. My girlfriend who's baby is a week behind my girl was having the same issue. She sent me an article that stated that this is totally normal. It doesn't mean baby is hungry, needs to be changed etc- in fact its just what it is... a fussy time and normally occurs in the evening. Knowing that made me feel a lot better since I was sure something was wrong since she was acting so spastic. My girl is already 3.5 months and has outgrew this stage.. thank goodness! You and hubby will get through it.
Love your taste in onesies too!
aww his little laugh is so cute and i love the last picture of him :) xx
ReplyDeletehi there- i love your blog and ethan looks like he is growing just perfectly.
ReplyDeletei hope you dont take offense to this when i say that i was relieved to see that someone else had the same experience with their baby post shots. i SWEAR that Mason (my son) was more fussy and irritable after each round and it drove me nuts. i was very vocal about this w my pedi and she suggested i spread them out more if it made me feel better. so thats what i did.. prob a little bit of avoiding the inevitable :) but still- its just comforting to know that im not the only one who felt this way. the good news is- it all passes! and everything will be fine.. its just hard to accept that when theyre getting those shots :(
anyhoo, thats my two cents- keep up the great writing!

He is so precious!
ReplyDeleteLove his lil belly laugh, so awesome that you got it on video! I totally know what it's like to have a baby that likes to be on the move. It's great for being able to go out and do things, but it's hard that she can't be content just relaxing! Have fun in minneapolis, It's a great city and the weather suppose to be in the 70s this weekend! I hope you have some time to shop, we have no sales tax on clothes;)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! Just popping in to to tell you that baby Ethan is adorable :) I had my twin girls at the end of July so I'm in full baby mode with two newborns and a 2 year old :) hope all is well! h
ReplyDeleteCute! Love the laugh! I think the baby bjorn will work great for you and traveling. It ended up being a great choice for us. Oh, and evening time is rougher for us as well. It's pretty typical as I hear. Keep it up mama!
ReplyDeletelauren
He is so precious!! Looks like you both are doing well!
ReplyDeleteOh, his laugh is so cute! It becomes so much more rewarding when they actually start smiling and laughing as opposed to just crying.
ReplyDeleteI was the Matron of Honor for my sister earlier this year when our little girl was only four months old and still nursing several times a day. Once I had my dress on I pumped right before the wedding, fed her a bottle at the reception, and then was able to go back to normal after that. It is hard to find any dress that is good for nursing though. I hope it all goes well.
Oh my goodness, his laugh is so, so sweet!! It's so awesome when you get positive reinforcement from them :)
ReplyDeleteMy baby girl (now 5 months) used to have that fussy time in the evenings, but they do outgrow it! We were done with it by about 3 months I believe. I read somewhere that it's just the way that they expend energy in preparation for their long night sleep. It does make sense, but it doesn't make you feel much better about it, I know! Being outdoors always seemed to work best for us at that time.
Also, we have the Summer video monitor, (3.5 inch version) and we LOVE it! It's awesome because you have the peace of mind of seeing them, and you can also tell if they actually need your or if they're just crying out/talking in their sleep. Highly recommend! We bought last year's model from justkidsstore.com, so it was about $100 cheaper plus no tax/shipping.

OK, that picture of him and Ryan where he's wearing the hat made me literally laugh out loud at my desk because he's just so freaking adorable! So glad I got to see you guys yesterday, Ethan is just the cutest! Maybe dinner sometime next week? Let me know! :) And if I don't talk to you, good luck traveling this weekend!! :)
ReplyDeleteHe's getting so big! I can't wait to meet the little fellow.
ReplyDeleteHe is so precious! That little laugh puts the hugest smile on my face! Too cute :) And you are looking great too... love the new hair cut :)

girl i feel you on the overstimulated part! We still run into that problem with Ava when were out! The first set of shots were rough but the second set didn't even phase her so hang in there. Also still a HUGE fan of the Summer monitor! Seriously recommending it to everyone...worth every penny!
ReplyDeletehe is so adorable!! and i can tell he is such a happy baby - so excited for these new baby stages :)
ReplyDeleteHi! I've nominated you and your awesome blog for the "seven things about me" award. I hope you'll want to participate, it's fun :)
ReplyDelete- Mara
oh my goodness! that LAUGH! B's laugh sounds like something straight out of the beevis and butthead movie...hoping it gets more feminine...
ReplyDeleteSuch a cutie!! :) I love the name Ethan too!
ReplyDeleteI'm actually a new follower! I was talking to Katie from KC&CO about our upcoming trip to Tahoe, and she said that you're the best resource on the planet for Tahoe ideas. SO... I'm wondering if you'd be able to give me ideas on any MUST DO's while we are there? :)
Thanks!
He's such a cutie Natasha. That time of day is very common for fussiness. Mila was like that I remember. For dresses...maybe an off the shoulder number? I wore a strapless dress to a wedding I went to when Mila was 5 months. Something loose...like a shift style. It'll all work out! :)
ReplyDeleteEthan is too sweet! I can't wait to see the video of the laugh! Kaden is on the verge of doing it too...
ReplyDeleteI know we've said this before, but I love being able to read up on Ethan since he's so close to Kaden's age!
He just gets cuter and cuter! Look at that adorable smile! :)
ReplyDeleteAhhhh!! His laugh SO cute!!! He just lights up the room doesn't he?! haha
ReplyDeleteWe LOVED our bjorn!! Good choice!!
Good luck with all the events/traveling coming up!! For us things that have worked were always having a pacifier handy, security blankets/blankies near by, having a easy access bottle and any favorite toys!
We love our Summer Infant monitor, have been using it for almost 10 months and I have had no problems.
ReplyDeleteFor dresses, I found the ones that crIss cross in front of the chest worked best. Most of them are cotton, but you can get away with it while nursing!
Lov following your blog!

His smile is so precious. I love seeing you with him. It's so sweet:) Your hair shoulder length is darling!
ReplyDeleteI love the pampers we rarely ever have a problem but Matthew is still in newborn for now!! I want to the bjorn, I have the ktan and just a sling kind and both are annoying and difficult to work.
ReplyDeleteSweet sweet smile!! Love it! Time is flying, huh?!
ReplyDeleteyou have the cutest little boy!!
