We got our first BIG snow storm yesterday...Tahoe is finally seeing winter! While for many, that means skiing and sledding...for me, it means, warming up by the fire and eating something warm and yummy! :)
I've always loved fondue and never realized how easy it is to whip up! It's great for parties or as an easy app. Plus the combinations are endless, which makes for some fun pairings!
Cheese Fondue Recipe
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 1 Tb flour
- 6 ounces cheddar cheese
- 6 ounces Monterey jack cheese
- 1/2 tsp garlic salt
- A couple pinches cayenne pepper
The fun part is picking all the goodies to dip in the cheese! I like breads and apples myself...but really, there are tons and tons of options.
This particular fondue is super savory, but not too rich! The cayenne pepper adds a surprising flavor that really rounds out the cheese.
So tell me...do you fondue? What are your favorite combos?

ReplyDeleteMy hubby and I do fondue once a year with two other couples. We hosted it the last time around, and I decided to try out pizza fondue. It seemed to be everyone's favourite :-) We dipped foccacia, Boccaccini cheese, peppers, pearl onions, pepperoni, and sausage into a fondue pot of pizza sauce mixed with cheese and created little pizza bites. Yummy & fun :-)

Fondue is great! I love going to Melting Pot for fondue :)
ReplyDeleteMmmmm that big pot of cheesy fondue looks divine, Natasha! We do fondue, in a big way....cheese, chocolate, pizza fondue for the kiddos! I like your recipe for cheese fondue - we've discovered we are not fans of the shredded fondue cheese mix that you find in grocery stores that has Ementhaler cheese in it.....too strong of a swiss cheese taste for our taste buds (and it's crazy expensive to boot! So why bother) I will definitely try your cheddar/monterey jack/cayenne combo!!
ReplyDeleteHave you ever put beef broth in the pot and cooked chunks of beef and veggies that way? It's really fun for a small group. I'll have to post about it sometime.
Mmmm, two of my favorite things: cheese and dipping. I don't know what it is about dipping things in stuff that I like so much!! I think it brings out my inner 3 year old. ;)
ReplyDeleteThis looks delish. Now I'm dying to try the cheese version. Hubz & I have chocolate fondue nights a couple times of year...always my fave!
